Aerodrome control rating – ICAO 052
The ideology behind aerodrome control rating is to provide safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic and to identify and solve conflicts between aircraft as well as aircraft and vehicles. Students are exposed to various scenarios during the practical training, encompassing types of traffic as well as external factors that could affect the aircraft

Requirements:
- Valid ATSA rating (link to ATSA course)
- Advantageous: Clearance Delivery, Co-ordination, AFIS license
- Matric with Mathematics and English, Geography an advantage
- Class 3 Medical
- Achieve Level 4 in Aviation English proficiency test
The course comprises of lectures with theoretical assessments, as well as practical simulations and assessments. All lectures and assessments follow the SACAA approved curriculum. All instruction is in English.

- Technical and navigation aids
- Search and rescue
Practical simulator training
In order to develop the practical controlling skills of the candidate to the required standard, he/she will be required to apply the following procedures and principles in a simulated operational environment
- Radio telephony procedures
- Aerodrome control procedures
- Separation standards
- Emergency procedures
- Flight progress strip marking
